Un violento terremoto a Taiwan ha provocato il crollo di un palazzo di 17 piani, pieno di famiglie riunite per il Capodanno lunare, uccidendo 11 persone (bilancio provvisorio, destinato a salire esponenzialmente nelle prossime ore). Numerosi i bambini, anche neonati, estratti dalle macerie.

Tainan è stata la città più colpita dal sisma magnitudo 6.4.
