Fascino e natura: la Thailandia è uno Stato del sud-est asiatico, noto anche come Siam (era il nome ufficiale della nazione fino al 24 giugno 1939, utilizzato anche dal 1945 fino all’11 maggio 1949). La parola Thailandia deriva da thai, aggettivo che significa “libero” o “indipendente” nella lingua locale. Accanto alla capitale Bangkok, le città principali sono Chiang Mai, Pattaya, Nakhon Ratchasima, Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, Nakhon Sawan.

Il clima locale è di tipo tropicale e caratterizzato dalla presenza dei monsoni: tra metà maggio e settembre è protagonista quello sudoccidentale caratterizzato da piogge e caldo. Tra novembre e metà marzo si manifesta quello asciutto e freddo di nordest. La parte peninsulare meridionale del Paese è invece calda e umida.
